Keep the cap off in hopes that you wouldn't do it a third time and...without looking...the next time you try and drink, subconsciously try and twist off the cap that isn't there anymore. CHECK.

Never done that first one, but the impulsively trying to twist off a cap that's not there, I HAVE done that.
