what would you consider a "true" translation as best we can determine for the bible?

Are you talking about a guidline or something? If so, it is the New Testament. My favorite book in the New Testament is Revalation. It talks about the Final Days and the Rapture. It is good.

No, I'm speaking of what "translation" would you consider to be the best as far as what was actually originally written. We all know translation in the bible is controversial.

Translation of what? Then I will look for it.

translation of the entire bible from its original format to now, like the King James "version". which "version" or "translation" is most accurate. And what, to the best of your knowledge, has been "added" to the whim of the translations thruout the years

I read the King James Version. Not the New King James Version. It changes the real and true word of God completely. I think it was someone trying to prove God wrong. Is that what you asked, Spankie?

yes, but do you think the king James is close to the original? I think a lot of stuff has been added and/or deleted.

King James??? He and his group of religious revisionists completely edited the gospel to suit their ideas of what the bible "meant". It glorified the rule of a king, made women subservient to man, and gave dogma an iron fist that lead to the death of millions.

The bible should be read in all its forms- the truth lies somewhere in between.

I think King James is the closest. There could be misinterpetations.

For one incident - yes, for the other - I apologize, but it's rather personal.

Almost EXACTLY a year ago, we had a storm where I lived. It was pretty small actually, and the weathermen didn't seem to be to interested in it - until the winds (not kidding) picked up to 102 miles per hour; faster than that of an F3 tornado. It hit my house directly - and I was home alone (weather is my worst fear, so that was a HUGE factor). Not knowing what was going on (the power was out), I went upstairs to hopefully get some answers. The entire front side of my house is made of windows, so I got a huge and rather horrid view of the storm. As soon as I put my hand against the window to see the flooding and the electric wires everywhere (the water was higher than the sidewalk from the street), one of the four maple trees in my front lawn snapped...in half. It fell directly toward the roof of my house and the glass in front of me. I ducked down and covered my head with my arms until I couldn't hear myself screaming anymore. In fact...I couldn't hear ANYTHING anymore (during the storm, it sounded like my house was being bombed). I stod up slowly and looked out the window. The half of my tree laid vertically in the street on the other side - as if it had fallen the opposite direction and flew OPPOSITE of the wind for yards. It was then that I decided to be smart and run downstairs, lol. After the storm was down, a total of two other trees had crashed TOWARDS my house and barely missed it. Wierd thing is...we had terrible roof damage where that tree had hit, but "magically" went the other way.

It was by faith that I was saved...I never knew that I would regret not doing so many things in the face of death. Everyone, please....LIVE YOUR LIFE.

To all:

As for the "closest" translations for the Bible, King James is definately at the bottom...along with the Catholic Bible (I apologize for any offence, I will explain myself further in this message). King James "skewed" some verses of the Bible to better compliment his own way of living. The Catholic Bible has added MORE THAN ENOUGH books to the Bible. Has anyone read Revelations? Um...how does "he who takes away or gives to the writting of this book shall have their name taken away from the book of life" sound to YOU?...Heck, I'm not messin' with the Bible *puts hands up*. I don't think that there IS a "closest" translation. I read the NIV - though. I mean... skewing is a LOT different than translating. So changing the word yellow to gold isn't something that I would consider to "not be accurate". Get what I mean?
