I am allied wtih usmc, so would that mean i would be a merc?

Okay, I am confused here, I see that it is just against usmc2332admiral, so is it just him or his alliance, and my alliance have an nap with his, so would I be entering the war if i did as a merc, or just simply as an allied alliance?
